The situation worsened for Elfsborg in the 17th minute when Ante Covic was sent off, forcing them to make a substitution, while Gustav Svensson received a yellow card for Göteborg.
Hjálmar Jónsson was involved in another incident when he scored IFK's second goal in the 41st minute. Shortly after, Denni Avdic received a yellow card for Elfsborg, and it was Göteborg who went into halftime with a narrow 2-1 lead.
Göteborg maintained control of the match in the second half. In the 81st minute, Jakob Olsson Johansson scored the team's third goal, and in the final moments of the match, it exploded with two more goals for Göteborg. Robin Söder netted the fourth goal in the 87th minute, while Olsson Johansson scored his second goal in the fifth minute of added time.
