On Monday evening, GAIS hosted local rivals IFK Göteborg at Gamla Ullevi in front of an impressive crowd of over 15,000 spectators. Referee Markus Strömbergsson and his assistants Erik Bergsten and Henrik Bogdan were present to officiate the match.
The match began with an early substitution from GAIS as Mervan Celik left the field. During the first half, it was IFK that created the most danger, but GAIS's defense held firm. Elmar Bjarnason from IFK received a yellow card after 24 minutes, and just three minutes later, Wanderson Do Carmo Carneiro from GAIS was also cautioned.
IFK brought on Alexander Faltsetas after 34 minutes, and it was GAIS's turn to make a substitution right before halftime. Reuben Ayarna left the pitch and Romario Pereira Sipiao came on as his replacement.
In the second half, IFK made their second substitution when Pär Eriksson came on for Robin Söder. Fredrik Lundgren from GAIS received a yellow card after 60 minutes, and IFK received two yellow cards in the following minutes; Ragnar Sigurdsson and Sebastian Eriksson were both close to receiving a red card.
With only a few minutes left, both Mervan Celik and Stefan Selakovic received yellow cards. Despite many dangerous chances at the end of the match, it ended in a draw. GAIS is currently in 6th place in the Allsvenskan table while IFK Göteborg is in 13th place.
