Helsingborgs IF continued their winning streak in Allsvenskan when they faced Gefle IF FF at Strömvallen on Monday evening. With an impressive crowd of 3,308, Gefle IF started strong and took the lead 1-0 in the 50th minute through Alexander Gerndt.
However, Helsingborgs IF did not give up and began to apply higher pressure on Gefle IF. After a halftime substitution where Rachid Bouaouzan replaced Erik Sundin, Helsingborgs IF started to gain more control of the match. Joel Ekstrand received a yellow card in the 59th minute, and Marcus Gotte was also booked in the 67th minute. But in the 67th minute, Gotte received a red card, leaving Helsingborgs IF at a numerical disadvantage.
Despite this, Helsingborgs IF continued to fight, and just ten minutes later, in the 78th minute, May Mahlangu scored the equalizer. Joel Ekstrand netted the goal for 2-1 in the 83rd minute, and just five minutes later, Marcus Lantz sealed the victory with a penalty.
Gefle IF tried to make a comeback, but in the 88th minute, Lantz hammered in the final nail in the coffin, and the match ended 1-3 in favor of Helsingborgs IF.
After the match, Gefle IF remained in 11th place in the standings, while Helsingborgs IF maintained their lead in Allsvenskan. Referee Jonas Eriksson and his assistant referees Daniel Wärnmark and Andreas Björkman had little to do during the match, aside from issuing yellow cards and sending off Marcus Gotte.
