Malmö FF secured a convincing victory at Swedbank Stadion, defeating Trelleborgs FF 4-2 on Sunday afternoon. In front of an audience of 9,572 spectators, the visitors controlled the game from the beginning, and just five minutes in, referee Markus Strömbergsson showed the yellow card to Trelleborg's Joakim Nilsson Ingves.
Just three minutes later, Malmö took the lead through Wilton Figueiredo, assisted by Ricardo Ferreira Da Silva. After more than 20 minutes, Malmö struck again when Daniel Larsson increased the lead to 2-0, with an assist from Johan Dahlin.
However, Trelleborg kept fighting and found the net after half an hour when Magnus Andersson reduced the deficit to 2-1. Before the halftime break, Malmö's Yago Fernandez Prieto entered Strömbergsson's notebook with a caution, but it was Malmö leading by one goal at halftime.
In the second half, Malmö dictated the match, and just seven minutes in, they scored their third goal—once again from Daniel Larsson, this time from the penalty spot.
Shortly thereafter, Agon Mehmeti extended the lead to 4-1 with an assist from Ricardo Ferreira Da Silva. Trelleborg managed to pull one back through Kristian Haynes, assisted by Jonathan Asp, but that was as close as they would get.
Toward the end of the match, there were some longer substitutions from both teams, but Malmö held on and claimed a strong away win of 4-2. A few more yellow cards were issued, with the last one going to Trelleborg's Ibrahim Koroma in the first minute of stoppage time.
