It was a sunny Saturday afternoon at Guldfågeln Arena when Kalmar FF hosted Trelleborgs FF in the Allsvenskan. Kalmar, already sitting in an impressive third place in the table, was set to face a Trelleborg team that was second to last and had much to prove.
Kalmar FF started strong, and it only took two minutes before they found the back of the net. Daniel Freire Mendes received an assist from Kristoffer Fagercrantz and was able to push in 1-0 for the home team. They continued to dominate the game, and 27 minutes into the match, Daniel Lopes Silva scored 2-0 with an assist from Freire Mendes.
Trelleborg fought hard but struggled to create dangerous opportunities in Kalmar FF's penalty area. In the 45th minute, Tobias Eriksson made it 3-0 for the home side with an assist from Freire Mendes.
The second half began with an attempt from Trelleborg to get back into the match. They brought on Thiago Pinto Borges in the 70th minute in an effort to score a goal, and ten minutes later, they also substituted in Andréas Grahm. Kalmar brought on Abiola Dauda in the 68th minute to strengthen their attack.
In the 85th minute, Kalmar FF's goalkeeper Etrit Berisha was sent off, but it did not seem to affect the match much. As time was running out, Trelleborg made an impressive comeback with two quick goals at the end. Kristian Haynes scored 3-1 in the 87th minute, and in the 90th minute, Andréas Grahm made it 3-2.
But it was too late for Trelleborg to catch up, and the match ended 3-2 in favor of Kalmar FF. A crucial win that keeps them in third place in the table. Trelleborg will have to continue fighting to escape their seventh place at the bottom of the standings.
