Örebro fought to equalize, but unfortunately, it was Elfsborg who would increase their lead instead. Valdete Rama from Örebro received a yellow card in the 19th minute, and just three minutes later, Alejandro Bedoya also saw a yellow card. This gave IF Elfsborg more space to play and control the match.
Josef Ibrahim was substituted in for Örebro in the 26th minute, but it was not enough to turn the game around. Instead, Johan Karlsson of IF Elfsborg was cautioned in the 66th minute.
The coach for Örebro chose to make a substitution in the 70th minute, bringing in Paulo José De Oliveira for William Atashkadeh. However, despite this move, IF Elfsborg continued to maintain control of the match, and substituted Amadou Jawo for Stefan Ishizaki in the 74th minute.
It didn’t take long before Örebro encountered further problems. John Alvbåge was sent off in the 77th minute, which resulted in Simon Nurme coming in as a substitute. IF Elfsborg capitalized on their chances when Daniel Nordmark and David Elm were substituted in the 79th and 81st minutes, respectively.
Amadou Jawo managed to extend IF Elfsborg's lead in the 89th minute with an assist from Johan Larsson. With only a few minutes remaining in the match, the final decisive goal came from Larsson himself, assisted by Nordmark, giving IF Elfsborg a convincing 3-0 victory over Örebro.
The match seemed like it would be an even contest at the beginning, but IF Elfsborg's superior play allowed them to secure an easy win. Örebro needs to reflect on what went wrong and better prepare for upcoming matches.
