Malmö FF won a convincing victory against Halmstads BK on their home ground, Örjans Vall, with a final score of 1-5. Many of the 3,065 spectators were excited ahead of the clash between two of Sweden's proud clubs. It all started with Halmstads BK receiving a warning in the ninth minute when Tomas Zvirgzdauskas missed a ball. Malmö FF was quick to capitalize on the situation, and Mathias Ranégie scored the first goal of the match in the twenty-ninth minute, assisted by Daniel Larsson.

It didn't take long before Jiloan Mohamed Hamad scored Halmstad's second goal in the match in the fortieth minute, and minutes later, it was Jimmy Durmaz who scored Halmstad's third goal of the match with a pass from Daniel Larsson.

However, even though Malmö FF was superior for large parts of the game, Halmstads BK managed to regroup, and in the sixty-sixth minute, Joel Anell shot a goal for his team. Malmö FF substituted Jeffrey Aubynn for Wilton Figueiredo and Daniel Larsson for Dardan Rexhepi with fourteen minutes left in the match. It was Wilton Figueiredo who scored Malmö's fourth goal in the match, before Mathias Ranégie added another goal assisted by Ulrich Vinzents.

In the final moments of the match, Halmstads BK was penalized as Michael Görlitz received a yellow card in the eighty-seventh minute. The match ended with a well-deserved victory for Malmö FF with a score of 1-5. All players from both teams fought hard, but it was Malmö FF that displayed the best discipline and efficiency on the field.
