AIK secured an important victory in Sunday’s match against BK Häcken at home in Råsunda. The match started dramatically when Häcken's Mak Lind was sent off just thirteen minutes in. AIK took advantage of the situation and just a minute later, Martin Kayongo-Mutumba scored to make it 1-0 for AIK.
As the match went on, AIK continued to dominate, and in the 33rd minute, Kwame Amponsah Karikari extended the lead to 2-0 after a lovely assist from the earlier goalscorer, Kayongo-Mutumba. However, before halftime, BK Häcken managed to reduce the deficit with a goal from Dioh Williams, following a nice pass from René Makondele Muzola.
In the second half, BK Häcken tried to get back into the game but failed to create enough dangerous chances going forward. AIK held on and won the match 2-1 despite some loud protests from the away team's supporters.
Häcken's Emil Ek Wahlström was substituted in at halftime but could not manage to organize Häcken's attacking play. AIK made several substitutions in the second half, including Kenny Pavey, who received a yellow card just before full time. With this win, AIK keeps their dream alive for a place in the Europa League next season.
