In front of a nearly full Råsunda Arena, AIK and GIF Sundsvall faced off in the eleventh round of Allsvenskan on April 22, 2012. The home team, AIK, came out strong and just fifteen minutes into the match, a fine header from Alexander Milošević found the net behind the GIF goalkeeper. AIK thus took the lead 1-0.

GIF Sundsvall then created several chances but failed to capitalize on them. Instead, they had to settle for a yellow card for Kevin Walker, who mishandled the ball too often. After an hour of play, through a nice header by the previously cautioned Walker, the away team equalized. The assist on the goal came from Stefan Ålander.

AIK made a substitution shortly after, bringing in Viktor Lundberg for Pontus Engblom. GIF Sundsvall also made a substitution, with Emil Forsberg replacing Michel Celestino Pires Chaves. Passing errors from GIF Sundsvall led to two yellow cards, first on Robert Lundström and then on Fredrik Holster.

AIK's coach decided to substitute Lalawele Atakora for Daniel Gustafsson, while GIF Sundsvall took out Robert Lundström and let Fredric Dammert Jonsson replace him. AIK’s Celso Borges Mora also received a yellow card.

GIF Sundsvall made their final substitution, replacing Fredrik Holster with Johan Eklund. Emil Forsberg also received a yellow card at the end of the match. The match ended in a draw, 1-1, between AIK and GIF Sundsvall.
