Elfsborg managed to secure the victory when they faced GAIS at Borås Arena on Thursday evening. In a match where Elfsborg took control from the very beginning and dominated most of the play, there was no doubt about who would take the three points.

Already after 21 minutes of play, Stefan Ishizaki scored 1-0 for Elfsborg with an assist from Amadou Jawo. GAIS tried to set up an offensive, but Elfsborg's defense stood strong and kept the ball away from their goal area.

In the 30th minute, however, Linus Tornblad managed to equalize for GAIS, and the match was once again open. Before halftime, Elfsborg's Jon Jönsson received a yellow card.

After the break, it was once again Elfsborg who stepped up and took control of the game. In the 49th minute, Amadou Jawo scored 2-1 following an assist from Niklas Hult. GAIS desperately tried to get back into the match, but Elfsborg's defense held firm.

The major incident in the second half occurred when GAIS's Romario Pereira Sipiao received a yellow card in the 80th minute. Elfsborg then took the opportunity to bring on David Elm, Skúli Jón Fridgeirsson, and Andréas Klarström to secure the victory. GAIS also tried to bring on new players in the form of Jakob Olsson and Peter Ijeh, but it was too late and the victory went to Elfsborg with a score of 2-1.
