GAIS faced GIF Sundsvall at Gamla Ullevi in a match that seemed poised to be a clear victory for the visiting team. Despite both teams displaying a tendency to proofread each other's defensive play, Sundsvall quickly advanced in the 21st minute and outsmarted GAIS's goalkeeper with a goal from Johan Eklund, assisted by Fredrik Holster.

Sundsvall continued to press forward and scored another goal in the 31st minute. This time it was Ariel Freyr Skúlason who found the back of the net. GAIS then began to fight with an energy that hadn't been seen earlier in the match, and Mervan Celik managed to score relatively quickly after Sundsvall’s second goal, with an assist from Linus Tornblad in the 36th minute.

In the second half, GAIS fought harder than before, and Sundsvall had significantly more trouble maintaining their defense. Skúlason got tangled up and received a yellow card in the 56th minute. GAIS made their substitutions with Jakob Olsson replacing Eric Magloire Bassombeng in the 66th minute, and Romario Pereira Sipiao coming on for Linus Tornblad in the 72nd minute. Peter Ijeh substituted for Reuben Ayarna in the 80th minute. Sundsvall also made two substitutions in the 82nd minute, with Christian Brink and Pa Amat Dibba replacing Fredrik Holster and Daniel Sliper. Finally, Simon Helg came on for Nuri Mustafi in the 87th minute.

Unfortunately for GAIS, it wasn’t enough to catch up with Sundsvall, and the match ended with Sundsvall as the 2-1 winners. Referee Michael Lerjéus had a good performance and kept the match under control, assisted by Henrik Bogdan and Mikael Hallin. The attendance was not particularly high at 3,595, but those present at least got to see a relatively exciting match with GAIS doing their best to catch up.
