It was a sunny Monday evening at Idrottsparken when GIF Sundsvall and IF Elfsborg took to the field to meet in the Allsvenskan. The crowd was not particularly large, only 4,464 people, but those who were there enjoyed a classic match with a high tempo and scoring chances for both teams. Markus Strömbergsson was the main referee, accompanied by assistants Peter Allheim and Mikael Hallin.
IF Elfsborg started the match with confident play, and it was no surprise when Stefan Ishizaki scored their first goal after 32 minutes. GIF Sundsvall struggled to turn the game around but found it difficult to establish any real chances against Elfsborg's strong defense.
After halftime, Sundsvall's morale dropped even further when Niklas Hult scored his team’s second goal in the 63rd minute. This was a significant setback for the home team, who were now down by two goals and desperately tried to turn the game around. Unfortunately for Sundsvall, Elfsborg extended their lead to 0-3 shortly after when Sundsvall's Robert Lundström scored an own goal in the 67th minute.
Sundsvall tried to revive their game by bringing on several new players, but none of the substitutions helped turn the tide in their favor. Instead, things got even worse for Sundsvall as Lundström was sent off for a reckless tackle in the 78th minute.
The match ended 0-3 with a dominant performance from IF Elfsborg. GIF Sundsvall remained in 12th place in the standings, while Elfsborg maintained their position at the top. It was a strong effort from the visiting team, IF Elfsborg, who overall played a fantastic match and won well-deserved.
