The match started evenly, and it wasn't until the 11th minute that Mjällby AIF took the lead through Pär Eriksson, assisted by Viktor Agardius. GAIS tried to recover but were not dangerous enough in attack. Instead, Mjällby AIF increased their lead before halftime with another goal from Eriksson, this time assisted by Daniel Ivanovski.

The second half continued with Mjällby AIF in control, while GAIS desperately tried to make a comeback. However, they did not receive much help from the referee, who issued several warnings, including one to Mjällby AIF's Patrik Rosengren in the 47th minute, as well as two to GAIS players.

In the 60th minute, Viktor Agardius scored Mjällby AIF's third goal, leaving GAIS with a daunting uphill battle. Mjällby AIF then made two substitutions in the 64th and 77th minutes, with Mostapha El Kabir entering the game to strengthen Mjällby AIF's attack. It was also El Kabir who netted Mjällby AIF's fourth and final goal in the 77th minute.

However, Mjällby AIF's motivation seemed to wane towards the end of the match, as Daniel Ivanovski received a yellow card in the 86th minute. Despite this, it was a dominant victory for Mjällby AIF, who showcased a well-organized and efficient performance.
