It was an autumn Thursday evening at Gamla Ullevi when GAIS faced off against Gefle IF FF in a match that would prove to be both eventful and dramatic. Despite the home team GAIS having the home advantage and playing attacking football from the start, it was Gefle who would take the lead. After 14 minutes of play, Jonas Lantto managed to put the ball in the net with an assist from Jakob Orlov, giving the guests a 1-0 lead.
However, GAIS was not ready to give up, and just nine minutes later, Romario Pereira Sipiao equalized to 1-1 with an assist from Erik Berg. The home crowd cheered, and the atmosphere was vibrant at Gamla Ullevi.
In the second half, however, Gefle would prove to be stronger, and just two minutes in, Olof Mård scored to put the guests back in the lead at 2-1. GAIS made several substitutions in hopes of turning the match around, but Gefle held on to their lead, and in the 78th minute, Mikael Dahlberg scored from the penalty spot, making it 3-1 for Gefle.
Nonetheless, GAIS did not give up and continued to fight to try to reduce Gefle’s lead. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, Erik Berg scored with an assist from Jakob Olsson, bringing the score to 3-2. But time ran out, and Gefle IF FF won the match 3-2.
After the match, GAIS remained at the bottom of the table while Gefle IF FF sat in eleventh place. The referee Andreas Ekberg and his assistants, Stefan Hallberg and Henrik Bogdan, officiated a well-played and dramatic game at Gamla Ullevi in front of 1,543 spectators.
