Malmö gradually took control of the match, and it was Tokelo Rantie who opened the scoring with a well-placed shot in the 48th minute. However, it didn't take long for Halmstad to respond. Gudjón Baldvinsson headed the ball into the net after a nice pass from Mikael Boman to the far post in the 53rd minute. The match was now open with several dangerous attacks from both teams.
Malmö then brought on Emil Forsberg and Dardan Rexhepi in an attempt to spark a decisive attack, but Halmstad held firm and kept the game balanced. Erik Berg was the last substitution for Malmö, but despite several dangerous chances towards the end, neither team was able to secure a win. The final score was 1-1, leaving Malmö FF in 10th place in the standings while Halmstads BK ended up in 11th.
