It was a sunny Saturday afternoon at Olympia when Helsingborgs IF faced Gefle IF FF in front of 10,010 spectators. Referee Stefan Johannesson blew the whistle to start the match, and just two minutes in, Gefle received a warning. However, this did not deter them from continuing to play offensively.
In the tenth minute, they were rewarded when Anders Wikström put the ball in the net after a nice pass from Alexander Faltsetas. But it did not take long for Helsingborg to equalize, with Alejandro Bedoya scoring 1-1 after a great assist from May Mahlangu.
The match continued at a high tempo, and Gefle was not afraid to keep attacking. However, it became clear that Helsingborg had a better grasp of the game, and in the 43rd minute, Peter Larsson made it 2-1 after a fine pass from Mattias Lindström.
The second half began with a substitution for Gefle as Sive Ricardo Pekezela came on for Jonas Olsson. But it did not have the desired effect, as Robin Simovic scored 3-1 in the 63rd minute after a nice cross from David Accam. Things got even worse for Gefle when Pär Asp received a red card in the 75th minute.
Gefle tried to fight back, but Helsingborg had the upper hand, and in the 78th minute, Robin Simovic scored his second goal of the day following yet another assist from May Mahlangu. It would go on to be another increase in the lead in the 81st minute when Mattias Lindström found the net after a pass from Ardian Gashi.
The match ended 5-1 in favor of Helsingborg, who displayed both skill and effective play. Gefle fought hard but could not threaten enough to turn the match around. Helsingborg was therefore able to secure their second victory of the season and continue their rise up the table.
