Malmö FF faced IF Elfsborg at home at Swedbank Stadion in Allsvenskan on Monday evening, in front of an audience of 13,821 spectators. The referee, Stefan Johannesson, officiated the match with assistance from Magnus Sjöblom and Stefan Hallberg.

Just 24 minutes into the game, the first goal was scored by Malmö FF, taking a 1–0 lead through Jiloan Mohamed Hamad, assisted by Ricardo Ferreira Da Silva. IF Elfsborg attempted to make a comeback, and just before halftime, the team scored their first goal. Mohamed Bangura found the net, with Stefan Ishizaki providing the assist to make it 1–1.

Then, IF Elfsborg made another substitution, with Viktor Claesson replacing Stefan Larsson in the 73rd minute. In the 82nd minute, IF Elfsborg made their final substitution, bringing David Elm on for James Keene.

However, not much happened thereafter, and Malmö FF won the match 2–1.
