Malmö FF led the table before the match and were determined to extend their unbeaten streak at Swedbank Stadion. Mjällby AIF, on the other hand, had lost ground in the standings and needed a win to stay clear of the relegation fight.

The match started at a high tempo and it was the home team that pushed forward. Malmö FF pressed high up the pitch and created dangerous attacks. After half an hour of play, they had a couple of good chances to score, but Mjällby's defense held firm and resisted.

In the second half, it looked like Mjällby might have a chance to get back into the match when Robin Strömberg came into play at halftime. However, Malmö FF showed that their attacking play was too effective, and Guillermo Federico Molins Palmeiro received a yellow card for a brutal tackle on Mjällby's defense.

Mjällby substituted Mattias Håkansson after 64 minutes, but the change did not yield the desired result. Malmö FF kept up the pressure and dominated in attack. After 84 minutes, they finally got their reward. Erik Friberg scored a fantastic goal with a powerful shot into the top corner after a beautiful assist from Ricardo Ferreira Da Silva.

Malmö FF pushed on in the final minutes but could not extend their lead. The match ended 1-0, and Malmö FF continued to lead the table. Mjällby AIF played well but missed their chances and finished in 10th place in the standings. Referee Johan Hamlin and assistant referees Joakim Flink and Magnus Sjöblom had a balanced and good match. The crowd at Swedbank Stadion was impressive, with a total of 15,560 spectators.
