Helsingborgs IF faced Mjällby AIF in the Allsvenskan at Olympia in Helsingborg on Sunday afternoon. In front of an audience of 7,145, it was referee Jonas Eriksson who blew the whistle to start the match.
Mjällby AIF started the match energetically, but it was Helsingborgs IF that took the lead in the 57th minute. David Accam found the back of the net after a nice assist from Abdul Rahman Khalili.
Just four minutes later, Helsingborg increased their lead when David Accam scored again, this time assisted once more by Khalili.
Mjällby made an attempt to get back into the match with a substitution in the 62nd minute, bringing on Patrik Ingelsten to replace Mattias Håkansson. However, Helsingborg made a substitution of their own in the 72nd minute when Alvaro Santos came on for Robin Simovic.
Mjällby's frustration levels rose, and Gbenga Arokoyo received a yellow card in the 80th minute. With nine minutes left in the match, Robin Strömberg was substituted in for Mjällby, replacing Kwame Bonsu.
In the 89th minute, Mjällby was awarded a penalty, which Kristian Haynes converted, reducing the deficit to 2-1.
But Helsingborgs did not want to leave anything to chance, and in injury time, Abdul Rahman Khalili scored his second goal of the day after a pass from Elias Andersson.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of Helsingborgs IF, who now sit in second place in the Allsvenskan, while Mjällby AIF remains at the bottom of the table.
