It was a sunny afternoon at Guldfågeln Arena when Kalmar FF hosted Mjällby AIF in the 14th round of Allsvenskan. In front of an audience of around 6,000 people, the home team showed right away that they wanted to take control of the match, and already in the 13th minute, David Elm scored 1-0 for Kalmar after a nice assist from Tobias Eriksson. The noise level in the arena increased, and it was clear that the fans were on the home team's side.
Mjällby tried to find their way into the match but struggled to create any really dangerous chances. However, suddenly it looked like the match would take an unexpected turn when Mattias Håkansson equalized for the away team in the 35th minute with an assist from Danny Ervik. The score remained unchanged until halftime.
In the second half, it was once again Kalmar that took the initiative. In the 63rd minute, they were rewarded for their hard work when Måns Söderqvist scored 2-1 after a clever pass from Jonathan Ring. The goal was of high quality and celebrated with a loud cheer from the fans.
Both Kalmar and Mjällby made some substitutions in an attempt to change the course of the match, but they were unable to affect the score further. When the referee blew the final whistle, the score was 2-1 in favor of the home team, Kalmar FF. The victory means that they continue to keep Malmö FF at a safe distance in the table. Mjällby, on the other hand, faces a tough challenge ahead if they want to improve their position in the standings.
