Mjällby AIF surprised AIK at Strandvallen A-plan and was able to win 1-0 in a match that featured few scoring chances. The first half was not very entertaining with few dangerous situations in front of the goals. AIK had the majority of ball possession, but Mjällby defended well and managed to break many of the Stockholm team's attacks.

At halftime, both teams made one change to their lineups, but it was Mjällby that would have the upper hand in the second half. After a fine pass from Christian Järdler, Christian Wilhelmsson scored to make it 1-0 for the home team in the 50th minute.

After the goal, AIK increased the pace and tried to create more scoring opportunities. However, Mjällby continued to defend well and held off AIK's pressure. Mjällby made two substitutions in the middle of the second half, while AIK made their final substitution in the 84th minute. But neither team could create any clear scoring chances, and the match ended 1-0 in favor of Mjällby.

The home game at Strandvallen was attended by 4,022 spectators who saw a disciplined Mjällby defeat an AIK that at times looked frustrated. With the victory, Mjällby moved up one place in the table to 12th position. AIK, on the other hand, missed the chance to move into first place in the league standings as Kalmar FF won their match the same evening. The referee for the match was Jonas Eriksson, assisted by Mathias Klasenius and Daniel Wärnmark.
