It was a lovely Sunday afternoon in Gothenburg when rivals IFK Göteborg and BK Häcken faced off at Gamla Ullevi in front of an impressive crowd of 13,089. Johan Hamlin was the main referee, with Mikael Hallin and Mahbod Beigi as assistant referees.
The home team started the match strongly, but it was BK Häcken that took the lead already in the fifth minute with a beautiful goal by Alexander Jeremejeff, assisted by Martin Ericsson. IFK Göteborg continued to press, and it would take 52 minutes before Lasse Vibe could equalize with a nice pass from Emil Salomonsson.
After the first half, the score was still tied, but it didn’t take long for the home team to take the lead. In the 70th minute, Gustav Engvall scored a great goal, putting IFK Göteborg up 2-1.
BK Häcken kept fighting, but despite having the opportunity to substitute Carlos Strandberg for Alexander Jeremejeff in the 66th minute and René Makondele Muzola for Ivo Dominik Pekalski in the 73rd minute, it wasn’t until the 90th minute that Kari Arkivuo managed to score with an assist from Gunnar Heidar Thorvaldsson.
However, it was too late, and IFK Göteborg secured the victory with a final score of 3-2. Kenneth Zohore scored the third goal for the home team in the 83rd minute with a great assist from Lasse Vibe. Despite a strong effort from BK Häcken, it was IFK Göteborg that took home the win and all three points.
