Glenn Nyberg blew the whistle to start the match at Gavlevallen in front of an audience of 3,141 spectators. It was a clash between two teams with different needs in terms of results: IFK Göteborg arrived in Gävle hoping to secure their first away victory, while Gefle IF FF aimed for their second consecutive win at home.

The match started cautiously, and it wasn't until the tenth minute that the first goal was scored. Unfortunately, it was an own goal by Gefle IF FF that gave the away team, IFK Göteborg, the lead. However, the home team quickly equalized. In the 25th minute, Dioh Williams struck to make it 1-1 after a nice attacking combination.

In the 40th minute, Gefle IF FF managed to take the lead again through Dioh Williams, who this time scored with a header following a great corner from Johan Bertilsson, giving the home team a 2-1 lead. This header would, however, prove to be Gefle's last display of strength in the match.

IFK Göteborg came out stronger in the second half and took the initiative. In the 57th minute, Martin Smedberg Dalence placed the ball behind the home team's goalkeeper after a nice pass from Tobias Hysén, which meant an equalizing goal.

IFK Göteborg then pushed forward and put serious pressure on Gefle IF FF. Gustav Engvall came on as a substitute and proved to be a match-winning reinforcement from the bench. In the 70th minute, Jakob Svarrer Ankersen scored to make it 3-2 after a great assist from Martin Smedberg Dalence. Just a minute later, Jakob Svarrer Ankersen scored his second goal of the match, making it 4-2 for the away team.

Gefle IF FF fought to reduce the deficit but couldn't quite manage it, and instead, IFK Göteborg extended their lead in the 79th minute when Tobias Hysén scored to make it 5-2. Later on, Patrik Karlsson Lagemyr, who had come on as a substitute, scored the sixth and final goal for the away team, finalizing the score at 6-2 in favor of IFK Göteborg.

After the match, there was much for Gefle IF FF to reflect on, as they remained in second-to-last place in the standings, while IFK Göteborg began to climb the table, settling into seventh place.
