Just 14 minutes into the game, Jönköpings Södra IF received a warning when Joakim Karlsson picked up a penalty. Elfsborg took the lead in the match after 32 minutes when Marcus Rohdén scored the team's first goal, assisted by Adam Lundqvist. Elfsborg's Rohdén then received a yellow card after 38 minutes.
