Hammarby secured an important victory at home at Tele2 Arena, beating Gefle IF FF 2-1 in Allsvenskan on Sunday afternoon. With an attendance of 22,215 creating a great atmosphere in the arena, it was the home team that started the strongest. Just 13 minutes in, Hammarby took the lead with a header from Erik Israelsson following a well-taken corner. Gefle IF FF tried to come back but struggled to create clear goal-scoring opportunities against the well-organized home defense.
In the 39th minute, Hammarby extended their lead through a fine individual effort from Alexssander Medeiros De Azeredo, who received the ball in the penalty area and was able to shoot it into the net. Gefle IF FF continued to fight, but it was Hammarby who had better chances to increase their lead.
In the second half, Gefle IF FF made two substitutions to try to spark their attacking play, but it was Hammarby that continued to dominate. Faced with an increasingly frustrated away crowd, Hammarby also made two substitutions in the 60th minute to freshen up their attack.
