On Sunday afternoon, September 18th, AIK played against Gefle IF FF at the National Arena, Friends Arena, in front of an audience of 13,056 people. The referee Kaspar Sjöberg was in charge, assisted by Peter Allheim and Niclas Ivarsson.

The match started off uneventfully, but the tempo and excitement increased as time went on. AIK's Ebenezer Ofori received a yellow card in the 43rd minute, which was the only caution in the first half.

In the second half, AIK coach Pelle Olsson made substitutions to the lineup by replacing Denni Avdic with Alexander Isak and Amin Affane with Stefan Ishizaki in the 59th minute. Gefle responded with a substitution as well, taking out Dioh Williams for Johan Oremo in the 61st minute, followed by Kwame Bonsu being replaced by Anders Bååth in the 64th minute.

AIK continued to press and had several chances, but Gefle IF FF kept them at bay until the 81st minute when Eero Markkanen sparked the home fans by scoring with a right-footed shot, making the score 1-0. Gefle IF FF had a last chance to equalize with a substitution of Robin Nilsson for Jacob Hjelte in the 85th minute, but AIK held on and won the match. Anders Bååth also received a yellow card in the 75th minute. The final score was 1-0 in favor of AIK.
