The match started with a warning for IF Elfsborg's Jon Jönsson in the sixth minute. After that, a balanced first half unfolded without any major incidents. However, in the 27th minute, Oscar Lewicki came on for Pa Konate in Malmö FF's lineup.

IF Elfsborg's Per Frick received a warning in the 34th minute, followed by Anders Degn Randrup in the 62nd. A few minutes later, Anders Bleg Christiansen also received a warning for the visiting team from Malmö.
