AIK and Djurgården faced off in an exciting Allsvenskan match at the National Arena, Friends Arena, in front of a full crowd of over 33,000 spectators. The referee, Stefan Johannesson, was ready to kick off the match at 3:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.

The match started with an intense rivalry between the teams, where AIK's Stefan Ishizaki received an early warning in the eleventh minute for a hard tackle on an opponent. Per Karlsson also received a warning for a similar situation in the 23rd minute. Following that, the first substitution of the match occurred, as Djurgården's Jonathan Augustinsson was brought on for Jacob Une Larsson in the 28th minute.

After an exciting first half hour, AIK was awarded a penalty in the 39th minute, resulting in Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi scoring the ball into the net for AIK's first goal of the match.
