AIK dominated the match from start to finish, securing a convincing 4-1 victory against Halmstad. The first half was a showcase of AIK's attacking play, particularly by Nicolas Stefanelli, who opened the scoring after just 21 minutes. Rasmus Lindkvist extended AIK's lead to 2-0 with a fine effort on the right flank. Before the half was over, Stefanelli had also scored his second goal of the day, and Henok Goitom increased AIK's lead to 4-0 with a header from a corner, assisted by Kristoffer Olsson.

Halmstad attempted to regroup in the second half and managed to reduce the deficit through Marcus Johansson after a well-taken free kick and a failed save by the AIK goalkeeper. However, it wasn’t enough; AIK maintained full control of the match and was able to substitute both Jesper Nyholm and Simon Thern to keep up the tempo.

Halmstad also made some substitutions, including Tryggvi Hrafn Haraldsson, but it was too late to affect the outcome. AIK continued to control the game and even brought on Denni Avdic in the final minutes to manage their lead. The final score was 4-1 in favor of AIK, who, despite some changes to the starting lineup, demonstrated why they are considered one of the top favorites in Allsvenskan. The attendance of 10,342 also highlighted the strong supporter culture, with fans coming out to support their favorite teams despite the windy and cold weather. Referee Magnus Lindgren had a satisfactory performance in a match that saw no major incidents.
