It was a rainy Sunday afternoon at Gamla Ullevi when IFK Göteborg faced GIF Sundsvall in the final match of the season. IFK Göteborg was in a respectable ninth place in the table while Sundsvall was fighting to avoid relegation in 14th place.
The match started evenly with chances on both sides, but it was Sundsvall that took the lead after 36 minutes when David Myrestam scored after a nice assist from Romain Gall. Just four minutes later, Peter Wilson extended the lead to 2-0, and it looked like it was going to be a tough afternoon for Göteborg.
In the second half, Göteborg tried to push for a goal to reduce the deficit, but instead, Sundsvall increased their lead to 3-0 after 66 minutes when Linus Hallenius scored after an assist from Peter Wilson. Göteborg attempted to substitute new players to try to turn the match around, but Sundsvall held on, and the match ended 3-0 in favor of Sundsvall.
With this result, Sundsvall secured their place in the league, avoiding relegation, while Göteborg finished the season in tenth place in the table. Despite the result not going Göteborg's way, the players were cheered in the final minutes by outgoing team captain Sebastian Ohlsson, who received applause from the crowd and a nice ceremony after his last match for the club.
