AIK managed to secure a hard-fought victory at home at the National Arena, Friends Arena, in a tough match against IK Sirius FK. After an early warning for IK Sirius FK's Robert Åhman Persson, Philip Haglund stepped up and scored a goal in the 45th minute, giving the away team a 1-0 lead at halftime.
AIK came out strong in the second half and brought in Henok Goitom, which proved to be a wise tactic. Five minutes into the half, thanks to a nice assist from Sebastian Larsson, Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi was able to score with a header, equalizing to 1-1. Both teams had several chances during the remainder of the match, but it was AIK that managed to take the lead when Jack Lahne made it 2-1 in the 75th minute.
AIK then held on to their lead, ultimately finishing as winners, despite attempts from IK Sirius FK to equalize. The match was also marked by several hard tackles that resulted in multiple warnings—two for AIK's Jack Lahne and one warning each for Stefan Silva and Sebastian Larsson, while for Sirius, Robert Åhman Persson, Kebba Ceesay, and Tim Björkström received warnings.
Referee Mohammed Al-Hakim and his assistants Mahbod Beigi and Robin Wilde had full control of the match and kept the game flowing well. The crowd at Friends Arena also created a wonderful atmosphere, with a total of 16,019 spectators present to witness the two teams face off.
