Östersund secured a well-deserved away victory against Athletic Eskilstuna at Tunavallen in the Allsvenskan. The match started cautiously for both teams, who aimed to establish good play. It was in the middle of the first half that the visiting team had a concrete chance to take the lead. Dino Islamovic found himself free in front of goal and neatly placed the ball into the net in the 23rd minute.
Athletic Eskilstuna tried to put pressure on Östersund for the remainder of the match but to no avail. The visiting team maintained a solid defense and kept the ball mainly in the attacking half for most of the second half. This made it even more difficult for the home team to create clear chances to equalize.
In the second half, both coaches made substitutions in an attempt to change the course of the match. Östersund brought in Ludvig Fritzson and Charlie Colkett, while Athletic Eskilstuna introduced Ousmane Camara and Ivan Bobko.
The match became a bit more physical when the home team received a warning following a nasty tackle by Anel Rashkaj in the 69th minute. Shortly after, Curtis Edwards found himself in the same situation, getting his first yellow card of the match for a reckless tackle.
The final minutes of the match were intense as Athletic Eskilstuna made a last substitution by bringing in Artem Rakhmanov. Östersund’s Alhaji Gero also came on to help the defense. The match ended 0-1 in favor of Östersund, to the great disappointment of the home crowd.
