At a packed Eleda Stadium, Malmö FF and IFK Göteborg were ready for a tough match in the Allsvenskan. Referee Martin Strömbergsson blew the whistle to start the match at 5:30 PM on Sunday afternoon. After half an hour of play, the first yellow card was issued after Jonas Bruun Knudsen from Malmö FF tackled hard. In the first half, there were several chances for both teams, but neither managed to outsmart the goalkeepers.
At the start of the second half, Malmö FF brought in Behrang Safari. Markus Rosenberg's aggressive play led to a yellow card. IFK Göteborg's André Calisir received a second yellow and was sent off after 57 minutes. IFK Göteborg played aggressively in the second half and received several yellow cards, while Malmö FF had more control over the game. Bonke Innocent and Giorgi Kharaishvili both received yellow cards.
In the 62nd minute, Felix Beijmo broke the deadlock by scoring with a header, giving Malmö FF the lead. Behrang Safari provided the assist. IFK Göteborg failed to create any breakthroughs after the goal and lost the match 1-0. Nzuzi Toko and Lasse Vibe came on as substitutes for IFK Göteborg in hopes of turning the match around, but were unable to score.
Jo Inge Berget was substituted in for Malmö FF, and Romain Gall took over for Bonke Innocent. Emil Holm was substituted in for IFK Göteborg in the closing stages, replacing Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi. Lasse Vibe from IFK Göteborg also received a yellow card towards the end of the match.
After the match, Malmö FF topped the table, while IFK Göteborg found themselves in seventh place. It was a good match from both teams, but Malmö FF was the stronger side and had control over the game.
