At a packed Eleda Stadium in Malmö, Malmö FF faced AIK in an exciting match in Allsvenskan. Just six minutes into the game, referee Bojan Pandzic made his authority clear by showing a yellow card to Malmö's Eric Larsson. After 21 minutes, it was time again, this time for Malmö's Rasmus Bengtsson to receive a warning.

AIK also had a player who picked up a caution, specifically Tarik Elyounoussi, who received his yellow card after half an hour of play. A quarter of an hour into the second half, AIK made their first substitution as Heradi Rashidi replaced Panajotis Dimitriadis.

Malmö FF made two substitutions simultaneously in the 73rd minute, with Oscar Lewicki and Felix Beijmo being replaced by Guillermo Federico Molins Palmeiro and Anders Bleg Christiansen. Additionally, Søren Rieks received a warning in the 75th minute. A couple of minutes later, Malmö struck and took the lead through Christiansen, who scored to make it 1-0.

AIK tried to find their way back into the match and made two substitutions in the 82nd minute, as Robert Lundström and Felix Michel replaced Anton Salétros and Enock Kofi Adu. However, it would turn out to be Malmö FF's day as Arnor Traustason increased the lead to 2-0 in the 89th minute with an assist from Molins Palmeiro.

AIK's Per Karlsson received a yellow card in the 90th minute before the referee blew the final whistle. Malmö FF took home three important points and continued their chase of league leaders Djurgården, while AIK lost ground in the standings.
