Mjällby AIF and Kalmar FF faced off in an intense match in the Allsvenskan at Strandvallen A-plan. Unfortunately, the audience was absent due to the prevailing circumstances. Referee Adam Ladebäck, along with his assistant referees Daniel Ekman and Christian Tennstedt, controlled the match. Both teams were in a slump before the match, as Mjällby AIF had lost their last three matches while Kalmar FF had not won in their last seven.
The match began with Mjällby player Jesper Gustavsson receiving a yellow card in the 19th minute, followed by another yellow card to his teammate Besard Sabovic in the 21st minute. However, Mjällby AIF managed to find the net first through Moses Orwohicho Ogbu in the 39th minute, with Mamudu Moro providing the assist. Mjällby then took the lead 1-0.
In the 64th minute, Mjällby extended their lead to 2-0 through Jesper Gustavsson, who scored a headed goal after an assist from Mohanad Jeahze. Mjällby had full control of the match and seemed to be on their way to a deserved victory.
However, Kalmar FF did not give up and in the 68th minute, they reduced the deficit through Edvin Crona, assisted by Isak Jansson. Kalmar FF continued to press and create scoring opportunities, resulting in Fidan Aliti receiving a yellow card in the 77th minute.
The match became more intense as we approached the end, and in the 79th minute, Mjällby’s David Löfquist also received a yellow card. Both teams then made substitutions, with Kalmar FF's Carl Gustafsson being replaced by Rafael Gimenes da Silva in the 87th minute. Mjällby AIF responded by substituting Moses Orwohicho Ogbu for Jacob Bergström in the 90th minute. Kalmar FF's Edvin Crona also left the field for Johan Stenmark in the 90th minute.
Just when it seemed the match was about to end and Mjällby would secure the victory, a twist occurred. In the second minute of stoppage time, Kalmar FF managed to equalize to 2-2 through Fidan Aliti, who was assisted by Isak Jansson. Kalmar FF had thus managed to come back and snatch a point.
After the match, Mjällby AIF was placed 9th in the table, while Kalmar FF was second to last. Although both teams did not achieve the results they hoped for, they can at least look forward to a point and hope for more success in future matches.
