Referee Kristoffer Karlsson, together with assistant referees Joakim Amri Nilsson and Johan Thalin, had quite a lot to manage in this intense match.
Already in the 35th minute, Malmö FF's Ola Toivonen received a yellow card from Karlsson, but this turned out to be one of the few dangerous situations in the match.
In the 40th minute, AIK's Ebenezer Ofori also received a yellow card, and emotions began to boil over on the pitch.
The second half continued in the same manner, and AIK's Nabil Bahoui received a yellow card in the 57th minute.
But the drama escalated even further in the 66th minute when AIK's Ebenezer Ofori received his second yellow card and was sent off by Kristoffer Karlsson. AIK was now down to ten men on the field.
Sotirios Papagiannopoulos, also a player for AIK, received his first yellow card in the 67th minute, and the card pile for the visiting team started to grow.
The teams then made a few substitutions in an attempt to find the decisive goal. Malmö FF brought in Søren Rieks in the 69th minute, and AIK responded by substituting in Karol Mets in the 70th minute.
AIK continued with more substitutions, bringing on Bilal Hussein in the 73rd minute and Bojan Radulovic Samoukovic in the 74th minute in an effort to turn the match around.
Malmö FF also sought to change the game by substituting in Adi Nalic in the 76th minute in place of Erdal Rakip.
Towards the end of the match, AIK's Papagiannopoulos was cautioned again in the 90+5th minute, receiving his second yellow card and being sent off as well. AIK ended the match with only nine players on the pitch.
Despite several warnings and two red cards during the match, neither team managed to score. Malmö FF and AIK thus shared the points, and the match concluded 0-0.
