Halmstad broke their winless streak in the Allsvenskan when they defeated IF Elfsborg 3-2 in an exciting match at Borås Arena. Despite Elfsborg taking the lead early in the game, they could not hold off a determined Halmstad side seeking revenge.
Just one minute into the game, the home team Elfsborg took the lead through Per Frick. A shot from Jacob Ondrejka hit Frick and rolled over the goal line. An early goal that gave Elfsborg a dream start.
Elfsborg continued to dominate the match and extended their lead in the 15th minute. Jeppe Møldrup Okkels received a perfect pass from Johan Larsson and managed to send the ball into the net. The home crowd cheered, and Elfsborg had full control of the match.
However, Halmstad did not give up and began to work their way back into the game. In the 39th minute, Amir Al-Ammari scored for the away team with an impressive free kick. Halmstad was back in the match, and Elfsborg faced a tougher challenge.
In the 56th minute, it was time for Halmstad to equalize. Marcus Antonsson, who scored his fourth goal of the season, was assisted by Simon Lundevall and sent the ball into the net. Halmstad had now turned the match around, and Elfsborg found themselves overtaken.
After the goal, both teams made substitutions to try and influence the match. Elfsborg tried to regain their game but failed to create any dangerous chances. Halmstad held firm in defense and threatened with counterattacks.
In the 88th minute, Halmstad struck again. Sadat Karim, assisted by Emil Tot Wikström, scored the 3-2 goal. Elfsborg desperately attempted to chase an equalizer, but Halmstad held firm and secured three very important points.
The match ended 3-2 in favor of Halmstad, breaking their winless streak. Elfsborg suffered a heavy defeat and now needs to focus on getting out of this negative result. Glenn Nyberg, the referee, also issued a warning to Halmstad's Amir Al-Ammari in the fourth minute of added time.
With only eight spectators present at Borås Arena, it may not have been the most viewer-friendly match. But for the fans following from home or via radio and television, it was an exciting and goal-filled event.
