Match in Allsvenskan 2023
Match start: 2023-05-07 at 17:30
Venue: Örjans Vall
Attendance: 4,617

Halmstad faced BK Häcken at their home ground Örjans Vall in a match that turned out to be completely unexpected. Before the match, Halmstad was in 12th place in the table while BK Häcken was in 2nd place, just one point behind the league leaders AIK. However, despite this, it was Halmstad that would claim the victory.

The match started at a brisk pace with both teams fighting for control of the game. But it was Halmstad that took the lead in the 17th minute through Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, with an assist from Gabriel Wallentin. The goal allowed Halmstad to continue their offensive play, but despite several good chances, neither team could score again during the first half.

The halftime break saw a substitution for BK Häcken, with Momodou Sonko replacing Oscar Uddenäs. However, despite BK Häcken's attempts to quickly equalize, it wasn't until the 68th minute that the next substitution occurred. Ola Kamara came on for Akoua Romeo Amane, but unfortunately for BK Häcken, no further substitutions or chances to score would help.

In the 69th minute, Dennis Nilsson, the goalkeeping coach for Halmstad, received a warning for his protests against the referee. BK Häcken continued to struggle, but it would turn out to be in vain as Kadir Hodzic replaced Kristoffer Lund Hansen and Tomas Olai Totland replaced Valgeir Fridriksson in the 81st minute.

In a final attempt to change the result, Halmstad substituted Viktor Granath for Alexander Johansson in the 84th minute. Despite repeated chances and efforts to chase an equalizer, the game ended 1-0 in favor of Halmstad. Jonathan Svedberg received a yellow card in the 92nd minute for Halmstad.

With a packed attendance of 4,617 and Victor Wolf as the referee, this match proved to be a significant loss for BK Häcken. But for Halmstad, it was a much-needed victory that would hopefully help them climb up the table and continue their fight against relegation.
