The match started with a high tempo but without any major chances for either team. In the 23rd minute, Halmstad made their first substitution when Thomas Boakye came on for Phil Ofosu-Ayeh. However, it would be until halftime before the game really picked up.

Just before the halftime break, Halmstad scored the first goal through Viktor Granath, who easily headed the ball in after receiving a perfect pass from Joel Allansson. AIK tried to rally the whole team to equalize, but Halmstad held firm, and thanks to Granath's goal, the teams went into halftime with a score of 0-1.

AIK continued to press in the second half, and in the 59th minute, Abdihakin Ali was substituted for Omar Faraj. Despite several attempts and chances, AIK failed to score until the 75th minute when Ioannis Pittas converted a penalty to equalize for the home team.

Halmstad was then reduced to ten men when Marko Johansson received a red card in the same incident that led to the penalty. However, continued pressure from AIK did not result in any further goals, and the match ended in a draw at 1-1.

Halmstad made three substitutions with Malte Påhlsson and Villiam Granath coming on for Viktor Granath and Kazper Karlsson in the 78th minute, and Gabriel Wallentin and Jack Cooper-Love replacing Marcus Olsson and Naeem Mohammed in the 89th minute.
