Linköping secured an important victory today at home when they faced FC Rosengård in the Damallsvenskan. In front of an audience of over 1,000, Linköping dominated the match from start to finish.
However, it wasn't until the second half that Linköping broke the deadlock. In the 47th minute, Jennie Nordin scored a beautiful header to make it 1-0, assisted by Renée Slegers. This boosted Linköping's confidence, and just six minutes later, Stina Blackstenius scored the second goal, assisted by Fridolina Rolfö.
FC Rosengård desperately tried to find a way back into the match by making two substitutions in the 60th minute, but to no avail. Instead, it was Linköping who continued to create dangerous chances.
Sara Björk Gunnarsdottir received a yellow card in the 57th minute for causing a free kick, underscoring FC Rosengård's frustration. They continued to look for a way back into the match, but Linköping defended strongly and kept a clean sheet.
Linköping also made a substitution in the 56th minute when Tove Almqvist replaced goalscorer Blackstenius. FC Rosengård made a third substitution in the 74th minute, bringing Nicoline Haugård Sörensen on for Therese Sjögran, but even that change couldn't spark life into the team.
When referee Sara Persson blew the final whistle, the score was 2-0 in favor of Linköping FC. A vital victory for the blue and yellow team, which now cements its position as one of the top teams in the Damallsvenskan.
