Eskilstuna United DFF hosted Piteå IF at Tunavallen in a thrilling match in the Damallsvenskan on Sunday afternoon. In front of a crowd of 1,444 spectators, referee Tess Olofsson and her assistants Anna Nyström and Ejub Mehic were ready to kick off the match.
Already in the second minute, Piteå took the lead through Elin Johansson, but Eskilstuna quickly responded. Sara Thunebro converted a penalty, equalizing the match to 1-1 in the 18th minute. Piteå then received a yellow card when Emelie Asplund Lövgren was substituted in during the 15th minute.
The penalty opportunity gave Eskilstuna another chance, and in the 23rd minute, Thunebro scored another penalty, putting the team ahead 2-1. Piteå's Elin Johansson also received a yellow card in the 29th minute.
Just before halftime, Eskilstuna sealed the deal when Kim Ekebom Arodin scored the team's third goal in the match, taking the lead to 3-1.
Piteå improved their play in the second half, and Jennifer Egelryd was brought on in the 62nd minute in an effort to turn the match around. Piteå's Lena Blomkvist then took a free kick and reduced the score to 3-2 in the 67th minute.
The match became more heated on the pitch, and Jennifer Egelryd received a yellow card in the 76th minute. Eskilstuna's Sara Thunebro also picked up a yellow card in the 87th minute, but the match ultimately ended 3-2 in favor of Eskilstuna United DFF.
Eskilstuna United DFF also made a substitution, bringing on Rebecca Mellqvist in the 90th minute for Gaelle Deborah Enganamouit. It was an exciting match with several goals and tight gameplay, but when the final whistle blew, it was Eskilstuna's victory that was displayed on the scoreboard.
