Piteå IF won a convincing victory over Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC at LF Arena on Sunday afternoon. The home team took control right from the kickoff and created several dangerous chances. The substitution of Lena Blomkvist in the 22nd minute turned out to be a successful move by coach Stellan Carlsson, as she helped create more goal-scoring opportunities.
The first goal of the match came in the 29th minute, when June Pedersen struck a free kick that sailed over the wall and into the goal. It was a beautiful goal that gave Piteå IF a well-deserved lead. In the 35th minute, the home team doubled their lead when Hanna Pettersson redirected a ball from Emilia Brodin.
At halftime, Piteå IF made a substitution, bringing in Lotta Ökvist for Irma Helin Zibanejad. The second half began with more flowing play, but it was still Piteå IF who controlled the game and created the most dangerous chances. In the 75th minute, Nina Jakobsson entered the field as Hanna Pettersson was substituted. However, it was Pauline Hammarlund who sealed the final score in the 85th minute, elegantly shooting the ball in after a nice assist from Josefin Johansson.
The match ended with two yellow cards for Piteå IF, as Lotta Ökvist and Emilia Brodin each received a warning. But this was a minor blemish on an otherwise perfect match for the home team. With a well-deserved victory of 4-0, Piteå IF now moves up to fourth place in the Damallsvenskan.
