Piteå IF showed on Sunday afternoon at LF Arena that they have a lot to offer in the women's Allsvenskan. With the home crowd behind them, they came out strong against visiting AIK, but despite several dangerous chances, it was the away team that scored first. In the 38th minute, Filippa Angeldahl capitalized on a nice assist from Julia Zigiotti Olme and made it 0-1 for AIK.
Piteå's Ronja Aronsson received a yellow card in the 31st minute and was substituted at halftime, which led to an improved performance from the team. Barely ten minutes into the second half, Emelie Asplund Lövgren managed to head in an equalizer to 1-1, assisted by Irma Helin Zibanejad. The away team fought on, but in the 70th minute, Piteå took control of the match when Pauline Hammarlund scored, again assisted by Zibanejad.
Piteå's Nina Jakobsson headed in another goal in the 87th minute, assisted by Josefin Johansson, making it hard for AIK to regain control of the match. Pauline Hammarlund then scored her second goal of the day, also assisted by Johansson, which ended the match in an impressive manner. AIK's Nathalie Björn received a yellow card in the 90th minute, but that could hardly be considered a consolation as Piteå won the match 4-1.
