At a well-attended Zinkensdamms IP, Hammarby IF DFF faced Piteå IF in the season's final match. It was an important encounter for both teams, with Piteå IF fighting for a top position while Hammarby IF DFF battled against relegation.
The match began with a lot of ball possession for Piteå IF, who early on had several attempts on goal. However, it was Hammarby IF DFF who had the first truly dangerous chance when Olga Ekblom drove the ball into the penalty area but shot wide of the goal.
Hammarby IF DFF then started to take over the game more and more, creating several nice attacks, but lacking precision in their finishing. Piteå IF, however, always posed a threat with quick counterattacks, and Pernilla Larsson had to work hard as the referee to keep control of the game.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Hammarby IF DFF creating plenty of chances but failing to outsmart the skilled Piteå IF goalkeeper. Piteå IF also struggled to score, despite several good opportunities.
The most dramatic moment of the match came in the 84th minute when Hammarby IF DFF's Linnéa Eriksson was forced to leave the field due to injury. Substitute Moa Hedell performed well but could not break the goalless trend.
The match ended 0-0, resulting in many disappointed faces at Zinkensdamms IP. Hammarby IF DFF will have to continue fighting in the Damallsvenskan next year, while Piteå IF concludes the season in a strong third place.
