Another thrilling soccer match in the Damallsvenskan took place as Eskilstuna United DFF faced Linköpings FC at Tunavallen on Thursday evening. In front of 1,073 spectators, with Pernilla Larsson as the referee and Josefin Aronsson and Jennifer Laurin as assistant referees, it was this year's league leaders, Linköping, who emerged victorious.
The first half was well-played by both teams, but it was Linköping who managed to take the lead after 26 minutes when Pernille Mosegaard Harder found the net from an assist by Magdalena Eriksson. Eskilstuna had their chances but struggled to get the ball past the solid Linköping defense.
In the second half, Linköping continued to dominate. Just six minutes in, Mosegaard Harder increased her goal tally, again receiving an assist, this time from Stina Blackstenius. Eskilstuna tried to find their way back into the match, but it was Linköping who nailed the coffin shut when Blackstenius headed in the third goal following a corner, assisted by Jonna Andersson.
Eskilstuna fought until the very end but had to settle for a late consolation goal from Marija Banusic, assisted by Olivia Schough. Eskilstuna also received two yellow cards for Marija Banusic and Emma Jansson, while Petra Andersson received one as well.
The match ended 3-1 in favor of Linköping, who remain at the top of the league standings, while Eskilstuna stays in sixth place in the table until their next match.
