Piteå IF DFF secured a vital victory at home at LF Arena on Sunday afternoon in the Damallsvenskan. It was Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC that took the lead first in the match after Julia Zigiotti Olme managed to place the ball behind the home team’s goalkeeper in the 13th minute, with an assist from Rebecka Blomqvist.
However, Piteå quickly recovered and equalized just 22 minutes later through Nina Jakobsson's goal in the 35th minute, assisted by Ellen Löfqvist.
At the end of the first half, the visitors regained the lead thanks to Olivia Schough, going into halftime with a score of 2-1. In the second half, Kopparbergs extended their lead further with Elin Rubensson's goal in the 59th minute, with an assist from Julia Zigiotti Olme.
But Piteå made a strong comeback, reducing the deficit to 2-3 with a header goal from Nina Jakobsson in the 65th minute, assisted by Faith Ikidi Michael.
Piteå IF then turned the match around with two goals in just six minutes. Julia Karlernäs first scored a penalty in the 72nd minute, and then she scored her second goal of the match in the 85th minute with the help of Cecilia Edlund, who provided the assist.
Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC created several chances in the closing minutes, but the home team's defense held strong, and the match ended 4-3 in favor of Piteå IF. Amanda Johnsson Haahr from the visitors received two yellow cards during the match. The referees Sara Persson, Emelie Elfstrand, and Sofie Borck Janeheim had full control over the game in front of an audience of 3,022.
