Landskrona BoIS continues to march towards the title in Division 1 Södra after defeating Ljungskile SK 2-0 at home in front of a crowd of 1,787 at Landskrona IP's A-field this Sunday.
The match started evenly with both teams trying to take the initiative. The first dangerous chance came from the home team when Saber Azizi shot over from close range in the sixth minute. After that, the play was quite tight, and neither team was able to achieve much until the 33rd minute, when Ljungskile's Linus Dahl became the first player to receive a yellow card for tackling an opponent.
The second half resumed with the same pace as the first. However, after an hour into the match, Landskrona's coach Stefan Lundin decided to make a substitution, bringing on 20-year-old Edafe Egbedi for Saber Azizi. This would prove to be a wise move as Egbedi would turn out to be a game-changer.
The first goal-scoring opportunity would, however, fall to the home team when Sadat Karim finished after a fine pass from Philip Ljung. But the shot was saved by Ljungskile's goalkeeper. Karim would not miss his next scoring chance, though. In the 76th minute, he made it 1-0 after a great assist from Egbedi. Karim received the ball, turned away from his defender, and finished right next to the post.
After the goal, it was Ljungskile that chased an equalizer. But it became difficult for the visitors to create any goal-scoring opportunities, and their frustration led to more free-kicks for Landskrona. In the 80th minute, Landskrona's Adi Nalic received a yellow card after fouling a Ljungskile player. The guests continued to push for an equalizer, but it was the home team that would extend their lead.
With only one minute left of regular time, Karim got the ball again and scored his second goal of the evening. His two goals meant 2-0 for Landskrona. After the goal, the home team substituted Karim for Philip Ljung, which also marked the end of the match as Ljungskile could not do anything in the short time that remained.
Landskrona BoIS led the match pretty much from start to finish and took their seventh consecutive victory in the league. After the match, the team tops the table with 54 points while Ljungskile is in 7th place with 25 points. The referee for the match was Joakim Östling, and the assistant referees were Simon Kristensson and Magnus Blennersjö.
