It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon at Arena Ceosvallen when Vimmerby IF hosted Svärtinge SK in the women's Division 2 match. The home team started strong and opened the scoring in the 13th minute with Saga Stejdahl's beautiful header that went into the black net behind Svärtinge's goalkeeper.
VIF continued to dominate the match, and in the 40th minute, it was Stina Kägu Bragsjö who doubled the lead for the home team with a sharp left-footed shot that found the net, making it 2-0.
However, Svärtinge SK showed strength and responded early in the second half when Emilia Stjerna scored a fine goal in the 48th minute, which ignited a new spark for the visitors.
But it didn't last long, as just twelve minutes later, Nathalie Johansson headed in a goal for VIF, reclaiming a two-goal lead and causing the home crowd to break out in cheers and the chant "Vimmerby, Vimmerby!"
Johansson was not satisfied with just one goal; she scored another header in the 63rd minute, extending the lead to 4-1. VIF now clearly had control of the match.
In the 88th minute, Matilda Älvehag nearly scored a sixth goal for VIF, but a goalkeeper saved the ball. However, just seconds later, it was her turn to score with a header after a nice pass, thereby sealing the final score at a convincing 5-1 for the home team.
With this victory, Vimmerby IF continues to lead the table. For Svärtinge SK, things did not go as planned, and they remain in eighth place in the standings. Next week, VIF will face Åby IF, while Svärtinge SK will host Kisa BK.
