Already after four minutes, Karlstad took the lead through Victor Edvardsen, and just one minute later, they extended their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Stefan Jadnert. However, Vänersborg did not back down and reduced the score to 2-1 after 20 minutes through Paul Khajo. Before halftime, Edvardsen received a yellow card for Karlstad and Khajo for Vänersborg.

In the second half, Khajo would become the match hero for Vänersborg when he equalized to 2-2 after 49 minutes. The match continued to be intense, and Karlstad made a few substitutions in an attempt to find a winning goal. However, in stoppage time, Victor Edvardsen stepped forward again and decided the match with his second goal, giving Karlstad a 3-2 victory.
