The soccer match between IF Karlstad Football Development and Vårgårda IK was played on Sunday afternoon at Våxnäs IP in front of an empty arena. Referee Ahmed Abid, along with his assistant referees Caroline Lindqvist and Ludvig Hallström, officiated the match, which was part of Division 2 Norra Götaland.
IF Karlstad Football Development started promisingly and initially pressed Vårgårda IK but could not convert that into any goal-scoring chances. In the 14th minute, IF Karlstad's Jesper Karlsson received a yellow card. Before halftime, IF Karlstad made their first substitution, bringing Samuel Palenius on for Karlsson.
The second half began with IF Karlstad receiving another yellow card, this time for Jonathan Gullö in the 49th minute. Shortly after, it was Vårgårda that took the lead with just five minutes gone, as Mohammed Abdulrahman found the back of the net behind IF Karlstad's goalkeeper. In the 67th minute, IF Karlstad substituted Filip Johansson Bahar for Rami Mansour in hopes of equalizing.
Vårgårda also made a substitution in the 70th minute, bringing Richard Wartmark off for Damian Sarzynski, while IF Karlstad gave Vilgot Falknäs the chance to make a difference instead of Oscar Kihlgren in the 81st minute. At the same time, Vårgårda substituted Khalid Abdo for Shkelqim Krasniqi, and Abdulrahman struck again in the 87th minute, making it 0-2 for Vårgårda.
In the 90th minute, Vårgårda's Hassan Najafi received his second yellow card and was sent off. In injury time, IF Karlstad's Mohammed Qassem scored from a penalty, reducing the score to 1-2 for the home team, but it would not be enough to catch up. Vårgårda won the match 1-2 as the referee blew the final whistle, leaving for Västra Götaland with three points in hand.
